Intent:
This scholarship is established to promote the professional development of practicing regional archivists, by such means as attendance at SAA workshops offered at the Annual Meeting. In particular, it is intended as a resource for colleagues who are self-employed or receive inadequate employer-provided assistance, but whom wish to advance their skill sets in a particular area of archival management.
Guidelines:
Applicants must be currently engaged in the archival profession, broadly defined, in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Montana, and have a minimum of one year FTE paid or unpaid professional experience. They should be members of the Northwest Archivists, and have limited or no access to institutional funding for continuing education activities. Membership to SAA is not required. Nominations of a third party will not be considered. Members of the NWA Scholarships Committee are ineligible during their term of service and for one year afterward.
Recipients are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting for a formal award presentation, and are expected to provide a description of the scholarship-related activity, when completed, in the NWA blog.
Selection:
Current members of the Northwest Archivists Scholarships Committee will review applications and select an annual recipient. The application postmark deadline is February 15, 2019 and all applicants will be notified by early April. The scholarship may be used solely for the registration of the SAA workshop held at the NWA Annual Meeting.
