NWA At Large Student Scholarship
- Intent
This annual $500 scholarship is established to encourage college-level
students to develop their interest in archives administration
as a career choice, through such means as research projects,
unpaid internships and attendance at related conferences, seminars,
workshops, institutes or other educational opportunities.
Guidelines
Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time with an accredited
higher education institution in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho
or Montana. They must be graduate students or undergraduates having
completed a minimum of 160 quarter-system credit hours, or 110
semester-system credit hours. Students already admitted to the
Graduate Program in Archives Administration and Records Management
at Western Washington University are ineligible. The scholarship
must be used to allay direct costs; it may not be used to purchase
supplies or equipment.
Recipients are not required, but encouraged to attend the Annual
Meeting for a formal award presentation.
Selection
Current members of the Northwest Archivists Scholarships Committee will review
applications and select an annual recipient. The application postmark deadline
is March 1 and all applicants will be notified by early April. The scholarship
may be used any time throughout the subsequent calendar year.
Application
The following items are required:
- A completed application form: pdf document
- A formal letter of application. At minimum it should include
a brief account of interest in archives administration, and a
description of the proposed activity or project and how it will
be useful for vocational discernment.
- A current resume
The following items are optional:
- Printed materials associated with the proposed activity
- One letter of recommendation
