NWA At Large Student Scholarship

This annual $500 scholarship is established to encourage graduate students to develop their interest in archives administration as a career choice, through such means as research projects, unpaid internships and attendance at related conferences, seminars, workshops, institutes or other educational opportunities.

These scholarships are intended as a resource for students from the NWA Region (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Montana) who are enrolled in an archives graduate program of an accredited institution. They must be graduate students having completed a minimum of 160 quarter-system credit hours, or 110 semester-system credit hours. The scholarship must be used to allay direct costs; it may not be used to purchase supplies or equipment.

Recipients are not required, but encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting for a formal award presentation.

Current members of the Northwest Archivists Scholarships Committee will review applications and select an annual recipient. The application postmark deadline is March 1, 2018 and all applicants will be notified by early April. The scholarship may be used any time throughout the subsequent calendar year. Up to four scholarships may be awarded.

The following items are required:

  • A completed application form
  • A formal letter of application. At minimum it should include a brief account of interest in archives administration, and a description of the proposed activity or project and how it will be useful for vocational discernment.
  • A current resume

The following items are optional:

  • Printed materials associated with the proposed activity
  • One letter of recommendation
