A Journey to Building a Migration Workflow for 5.25 Floppy Disk Data

Northwest Archivists’ Born-Digital Interest Group (BDIG) will hold its Spring Members’ Meeting on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 1:00pm-2:00pm PST on Zoom.

The journey to migration can be long and winding and, for Mariecris Gatlabayan, Digital Preservation Librarian at the University of Washington, it was! Mariecris will talk about her journey to establish a workflow at the UW with working hardware (like floppy external drives and floppy controllers) and multiple software options to migrate and process data from 5.25 floppy disks. She will then share her tentative workflow that can only improve with a pilot project, time, and experience.

BDIG meetings are free and open to archival practitioners living in the Pacific Northwest. NWA membership not required, but encouraged! Meeting will not be recorded.

Please register in advance at this link.
